## What to Know About the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection

- The Jim Beam Small Batch Collection includes four premium bourbons: Knob Creek, Booker’s, Baker’s, and Basil Hayden, all produced and aged at the Clermont, Kentucky campus.
- Each expression uses the same limestone-filtered water and the same proprietary yeast strain, but barrel selection, aging, and proofing choices create distinct personalities.
- Baker’s and Booker’s are produced at the Fred B. Noe Distillery, while Knob Creek and Basil Hayden are made at the main Clermont distillery, all in level-4 char American White Oak barrels.
- Flavor and proof span a wide range, from Basil Hayden’s light, peppery 80-proof profile to Booker’s intense, uncut cask-strength batches, with most bottles retailing between $30 and $150+.
- All four expressions can be tasted side-by-side during the Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting at the Clermont campus, so you can experience the full collection where it is made.

## How the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection Started

In 1992, 6th-generation master distiller Booker Noe launched the Small Batch Collection with a straightforward idea: select the finest barrels from the Clermont warehouses and bottle them with minimal intervention. That decision permanently reshaped the premium bourbon landscape. Before the collection existed, most American whiskey was positioned as a commodity. Booker’s, Baker’s, Knob Creek, and Basil Hayden showed that bourbon could command the same respect as single malt Scotch or aged Cognac.

All four expressions share the same Clermont address, the same [iron-free, calcium-rich limestone-filtered Kentucky water](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent), and the same [proprietary yeast strain Jim Beam personally safeguarded since the end of Prohibition in 1933](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent). The differences come from how each expression is selected, aged, and proofed. Those decisions rest with 7th-generation master distiller Fred Noe and 8th-generation master distiller Freddie Noe.

## Where and How Knob Creek, Booker’s, Baker’s, and Basil Hayden Are Made

Each expression in the collection follows a specific production approach on the Clermont campus. [Baker’s and Booker’s are produced at the Fred B. Noe Distillery](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-family-pursuits?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent), the campus craft facility. Knob Creek and Basil Hayden are produced at the main distillery on the Clermont grounds. All barrels across the collection are made from [level-4 char American White Oak](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent), a standard the Beam family has maintained since Jacob Beam’s first barrel in 1795.

![The fermentation process, part of what you see in the Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting.](https://cdn.aigrowthmarketer.co/1781204316128-246a488865be.jpeg)**The fermentation process, part of what you see in the Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting.**

The barrel itself is only half the story, and the aging environment shapes the rest. [Kentucky’s four-season climate, with cold winters and hot summers, accelerates maturation](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent) and pushes bourbon in and out of the wood with each seasonal cycle. Warehouse position matters too. [Barrels on upper floors experience wider temperature swings that intensify oak character, while lower-floor barrels develop softer, fruitier profiles.](https://pourpicks.app/articles/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon) The Noe family uses that geography deliberately when selecting barrels for each expression.

## Jim Beam Small Batch Collection Tasting Notes

The table below shows the 2026 specifications and flavor profiles for each expression in the collection. Every data point reflects current distillery information.

| Expression | Proof | Age Statement | Primary Flavor Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Knob Creek](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent) | 100 | 9 Years | Full-bodied oak, rich vanilla, caramel, long finish |
| [Booker’s](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-family-pursuits?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent) | 121–130 (batch variable) | 6–8 Years (batch variable) | Uncut, unfiltered, bold oak, dark fruit, intense spice |
| [Baker’s](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-family-pursuits?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent) | 107 | Minimum 7 Years | Honey, toasted oak, light spice, clean finish |
| [Basil Hayden](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent) | 80 | NAS (high-rye mash bill) | Light-bodied, peppery rye spice, citrus, gentle sweetness |

Booker’s is bottled at cask strength without dilution, which explains its batch-variable proof. Baker’s Bourbon is [bottled at 107 proof with a minimum seven-year age statement](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bakers-bourbon-begins-new-era-as-a-single-barrel-bourbon-300936563.html), and each release comes from one individual cask. Knob Creek and Basil Hayden are blended from selected barrels to deliver a consistent flavor profile in every bottle.

## Guest Reviews of the Jim Beam Small Batch Bourbon Experience

The James B. Beam Distilling Co. holds a 4.7-star rating across more than 1,400 guest reviews on its Google Business Profile. Roughly 12% of tour guests voluntarily complete a detailed post-experience feedback form, which gives the distillery a consistent, named read on every experience.

Guest feedback often highlights the hands-on moments. Visitors mention filling and dumping a real barrel, tasting five bourbons at the exact production points that explain them, and pressing a thumbprint into the wax seal of a self-bottled Knob Creek. Guests who arrive as fans of one expression, whether Knob Creek drinkers, Basil Hayden loyalists, or Booker’s collectors, often say that tasting all four side-by-side where they are made reframes how they understand the entire collection. Experience that reframing yourself by reserving a spot on the Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting.

## Jim Beam Small Batch Bourbon Price

Retail pricing for the Small Batch Collection reflects each expression’s production method and age. [Small batch offerings are commonly priced in the $30–$80 range](https://pourpicks.app/articles/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon). [Single barrel releases like Baker’s typically range from $50–$150+ because of limited yield and curation](https://pourpicks.app/articles/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon). Booker’s, as an uncut, unfiltered, batch-specific release, usually sits at the higher end of the collection’s price range.

At the American Outpost gift shop on the Clermont campus, guests have access to distillery-exclusive bottles unavailable at retail. These bottles stay on the shelf until they are gone, with no timed drops or lottery systems.

## How the Four Small Batch Expressions Compare

Each expression in the collection fills a distinct role for different palates and occasions. Knob Creek’s 9-year age statement and 100-proof bottling make it the most versatile of the four, structured enough for enthusiasts yet approachable for newcomers. Basil Hayden’s high-rye mash bill and 80-proof bottling create the lightest, most accessible profile in the collection. Baker’s single-barrel format means every bottle is a distinct, finite release. Booker’s uncut, unfiltered bottling delivers the most intense expression and tends to draw collectors.

The Clermont campus is the only place to taste all four in sequence at the production points that explain each one. That context changes how the collection feels in the glass. [Tasting flights that tell the story through the sips create stronger emotional connections by making the narrative tangible through sensory contrast and sequence.](https://craftspiritsmag.com/2026/05/26/pour-the-why-not-just-the-what-tasting-flights-that-fly)

## Where Jim Beam Small Batch Bourbon Is Made

Every expression in the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection is made and aged at the James B. Beam Distilling Co., located at **568 Happy Hollow Rd., Clermont, KY 40110**. The campus sits about 30 minutes south of Louisville, just off Interstate 65, between Louisville and Bardstown, the Bourbon Capital of the World. It is the first stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail when you head south from Louisville.

![An aerial view of James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. It’s The Home of the World’s #1 Bourbon: Jim Beam.**

The distillery operates approximately 100 rackhouses across Clermont, Boston, and Frankfort, Kentucky, with roughly 3.1 million barrels aging across that network. [Barrel aging contributes 60–70% of a bourbon’s flavor and 100% of its color](https://www.beamdistilling.com/about-us/beam-made-bourbon?utm_term=jim-beam-small-batch-bourbon&utm_campaign=ai_growth_agent), so the warehouse geography of the Clermont campus plays a central role in how each Small Batch expression tastes.

## Jim Beam Single Barrel vs Small Batch

[Single barrel bourbon is bottled from one individual barrel with no blending, which makes each release finite. Once that barrel is emptied, that specific expression no longer exists.](https://smokyvalleydistillery.com/blog/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon) Baker’s, within the Small Batch Collection, follows this model, and each bottle traces to a single cask.

[Small batch bourbon is produced by blending multiple barrels to reach a consistent target flavor profile year after year.](https://smokyvalleydistillery.com/blog/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon) Knob Creek and Basil Hayden follow this approach, with the Noe family selecting barrels from across the Clermont warehouses to hit a repeatable flavor target in every batch. [Small batch expressions achieve a balanced, rounded, and repeatable profile through deliberate selection and blending of multiple casks](https://pourpicks.app/articles/single-barrel-vs-small-batch-bourbon), while single barrel releases show sharper individual character shaped by warehouse position and wood variation. Booker’s occupies its own category as a small batch bottled at cask strength, unfiltered, with no water added.

## Distillery-Exclusive Bottles and the American Outpost

The American Outpost gift shop serves as a destination for collectors and casual fans alike. The shelves carry hard-to-find and distillery-exclusive expressions alongside the full Small Batch Collection. A three-tier Tasting Bar, organized into Vault, Legacy, and Heritage, lets any guest choose two pours from across the full range, including archived products the distillery no longer sells commercially.

Distillery-exclusive expressions currently available include:

- Lineage, a Fred-and-Freddie Noe collaboration featuring liquids up to roughly 20 years old
- Distiller’s Share, an experimental series available only on-site
- Bottled-in-bond Basil Hayden, a throwback expression made exclusively for the distillery
- A distillery-exclusive pin bottle

Guests who bottle their own Knob Creek on the T-Line during the flagship tour pick it up at the American Outpost. Personalized bottle engraving is available for $10. Ready to bottle your own? Reserve your Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting experience.

### Frequently Asked Questions

### Do I need a reservation for the Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting?

Advance booking is strongly recommended. Tours sell out regularly during weekends and high-traffic seasons such as Derby, SEC football weekends, and summer. You are welcome to visit the grounds, the American Outpost gift shop, and The Kitchen Table restaurant without a reservation, but guided tours and tastings require a booking. Tours depart on time, and guests cannot join a tour already in progress, so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early.

### Is the Small Batch Collection tasting experience suitable for bourbon beginners?

The Beam Made Bourbon Tour & Tasting works for both first-timers and experienced enthusiasts. The taste-as-you-go format, with five pours at the production points that explain each one, gives newcomers context for what they are tasting without requiring prior bourbon knowledge. We had a bus pick us up from the store and drive us to one of the warehouses on the campus. The lady guiding us was so knowledgeable about the brand as well as the entire operation. We were in the actual warehouse and witnessed thousands of barrels stacked up on wooden scaffolding. The overwhelming smell of bourbon maturing in those barrels was unbelievable. And it was hot that day. We got to open one of the barrels and tasted the bourbon right out of it on the spot. What a great treat. When we got back to the store, we walked around the campus a bit, saw the Beam family original house. The Jim Beam store was a pretty cool place to visit. Lots of history and exhibits, plus the display of the bottles and the merchandise. I highly recommend going there for, at least, a half day to get the full experience, dine at the restaurant etc.
