Barreled & Boxed - Whisky Delivery by James B.Beam Distilling Co.

A delivery over 200 years in the making.

Two centuries ago, Jacob Beam shared his bourbon by floating barrels of it down the river. Today, we’re doing things a little differently. We’re delivering quality whiskey right to your front door. From the best of small batch to the never before bottled, each box brings bourbons worth sitting with. And worth sharing with friends, family and neighbors.

Winter ’22

Honoring three decades of small batch

Booker Noe’s small batch bourbon collection reimagined whiskey 30 years ago. He experimented with distilling techniques and found the “sweet spots” in the rackhouse that created the best tasting bourbons. Today, his legacy lives on with two never-before-released bourbons, both bottled in small batches after an extensive selection process.

  • Knob Creek 18 Year-Old: Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Knob Creek with the whiskey’s most patiently matured release yet
  • Booker’s Special Batch “Fred’s Pick”: Uncut and unfiltered for a finish that lives on just like this pioneering whiskey’s legacy

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does our Barreled & Boxed™ program work?

Becoming a member of Barreled & Boxed™ means you’ll receive unique shipments of whiskey from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. We'll ship you one box approximately every three months, depending on perfecting the aging process of our liquid. Each shipment will contain two bottles of our most sought-after bourbons or newest releases, sent directly from our home to yours.

  2. Are Barreled & Boxed™ shipments open in my location?

Currently, Barreled & Boxed™ by the James B. Beam Distilling Co is only open to consumers in Kentucky, Nebraska, North Dakota and Washington, D.C., living in a territory where direct shipments of distilled spirits from manufacturers are permitted and where alcoholic beverages, including distilled spirits, may be lawfully sold and received. Visit our Barreled & Boxed page to sign up by entering your zip code under “Get a Box of Your Own”.

If you live in a location not yet eligible for the program, you will be directed to join our Mailing List, and we will notify you via email if we begin shipping to your area.

If your location is eligible, given the extremely limited availability of the program, you may be directed to complete our Waitlist form if spots are not available. But do not worry, you will automatically be added to Barreled & Boxed™ once additional spots open. If you have not been added as an active member after a 12-month period, we will delete your saved records.

  3. How do the charges work for Barreled & Boxed™ shipments?

There is no annual fee to be a member. You can join at any time throughout the year, subject to availability. Each shipment will cost between $150 and $300, subject to change based on the products included in each shipment. The credit card on file will be charged approximately one week ahead of each shipment. The charge will consist of the retail value of the subscription – which includes a flat-rate shipping fee – and any applicable tax applied during checkout. You will receive an email confirming your purchase and then another when the box has shipped with your tracking information.

For any failed credit/debit card payments, we will attempt to reprocess the card for a total of three times during one business week. After three failed re-attempts, you will forfeit the shipment and your membership will be cancelled.

  4. How do taxes work for Barreled & Boxed™?

In addition to the cost of each shipment, your order confirmation email will show taxes charged based on your state of residence:

    • Kentucky – alcohol sales tax (6%), wholesale tax (11%) and state excise tax ($1.92/gallon)

    • Nebraska – sales tax (5.5%) and applicable local city sales tax

    • North Dakota – alcohol sales tax (7%) and applicable local county and city sales taxes

    • Washington, D.C. – alcohol sales tax (10.25%)

  5. How long is my membership commitment?

We’re so excited for you to be part of the family and once you’re a member, you’ll continue to receive two of our best bourbons in each shipment. We’d hate to see you go, but if you need to cancel, you can use the self-cancellation feature in your account anytime or contact us by selecting Barreled & Boxed – Membership Program.

  6. Can I pause my membership?

Due to the limited availability of Barreled & Boxed™, you cannot pause your membership or opt out of any individual shipment. If you cancel your membership and the program is sold out, you will need to join the Waitlist until there’s another opening.

  7. What does it mean to join the Waitlist?

When Barreled & Boxed™ by James B. Beam Distilling Co. membership is at full capacity, consumers living in eligible locations will have the ability to join the Waitlist. As membership spots become available, Waitlist members will automatically be added into the program as an active Barreled & Boxed member and notified via email. Once added as an active member, you will start to receive shipments.

We will retain your information on the Waitlist for a 12-month period. If you have not been added as an active member in that timeframe, we will delete your saved records.

  8. What is the cutoff date for joining Barreled & Boxed™?

You can sign up two weeks ahead of each shipping date and still receive the upcoming box. If it’s less than two weeks out, you’ll receive the next seasonal shipment.

  9. How will I be notified of my upcoming shipments?

You’ll receive a pre-shipment notification via email prior to each shipment. The email contains important details about the box, including which bourbons will be featured, how much the shipment will cost, when to expect your card on file to be charged and when the package will ship.

Once your package ships, you’ll receive another email from UPS with tracking information.

  10. Why is a signature required for delivery?

Applicable law requires a signature of someone 21 or older for all deliveries that contain alcohol. Carriers cannot leave shipments on stoops or in doorways.

  11. What if my product is damaged?

We’re here for you. Contact us by selecting Barreled & Boxed – Membership Program and we’ll help get things sorted out.

  12. Can I return products I don’t like?

We can’t accept returns, so be sure to watch for email announcements about your upcoming box. You can decide if you’d like it or not before it ships. But remember, if you cancel your membership, you lose your spot and cannot opt back in until there’s another opening.

  13. Are reservations required for my tour and tasting?

We want to show you around the distillery like you’re family and to do that, we’ll ask that you make a reservation. Please log into your Barreled & Boxed account to schedule your complimentary tour.

  14. Can I gift a membership to friends and family?

Right now, your billing address and shipping address must match, which makes gifting difficult. That said, once you get the bourbon, it’s all yours to share.

  15. How do I contact the James B. Beam Distilling Co.?

You can always come see us at the distillery. But if you can’t make it to Clermont, you can contact us by selecting Barreled & Boxed – Membership Program. We’re always here to help with updating your account, answering questions about a recent shipment, or just shooting the breeze about bourbon.
